Hon. Bryon Wilfert: CAFP's 2017 Distinguished Service Award Recipient

This year’s Distinguished Service award was presented to the Honourable Bryon Wilfert in Ottawa on Monday, June 5, 2017.

The CAFP’s Distinguished Service Award is a peer nominated recognition presented annually for exceptional contributions by a former parliamentarian. CAFP was created in 1987 and permanently established by an act of Parliament in 1996. It is a non-partisan association composed of former parliamentarians who served either in the Senate or the House of Commons.

2017 Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy

The Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians is now accepting bursary applications from participants in the Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy.

New Executive Director of the CAFP: Francis Leblanc

The Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians (CAFP) and its Educational Foundation are pleased to announce the appointment of Francis LeBlanc as Executive Director.

Hon. Jack Murta: CAFP's 2016 Distinguished Service Award Recipient

The Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians (CAFP) has announced that the Hon. Jack Murta is this year’s winner of its Distinguished Service Award. The award was presented in Ottawa on Monday, May 30th, by the Speakers of the Senate and House of Commons, both of whom are honorary members of CAFP.

Hon. David MacDonald: CAFP`s 2015 Distinguished Service Award Recipient

The Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians (CAFP) has announced that the Hon. David MacDonald is this year’s winner of its Distinguished Service Award. The award is to be presented in Ottawa on Monday, June 1st, by the Speakers of the Senate and House of Commons, both of whom are honorary members of CAFP.

CAFP Mours the Passing of the Senate Speaker

The Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians (CAFP) President, the Hon. Andy Mitchell, extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the Speaker of the Senate, the Late Pierre Claude Nolin who passed away on April 23rd.

Service to Canada to be Highlighted at Former Parliamentarians’ Event

 

''We had to postpone the dinner, which was originally set for last October 22, 2014 due to the sad events of that day, but we were determined to re-group. The re-scheduled event is going to be a special evening affirming Canadian values," Mr. Mitchell concluded.

Rescheduled Foundation Dinner

You will know the sad events of October 22 here in Ottawa required us to postpone our 10th annual fundraising dinner. I'm very pleased to report that we have been successful in rescheduling the event to Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Château Laurier. I look forward to seeing you there.

Press Release: Former Parliamentarians Association Condemns Ottawa Attack- Postpones Dinner Event


 

The Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians (CAFP) announced that out of respect for the fallen member of the Canadian Armed Forces and in view of the Ottawa police call for people to avoid the downtown area, they have, with great regret, postponed the 10th annual Educational Foundation dinner event that was scheduled to take place at the Château Laurier hotel on October 22, 2014.
