Hon. Jean-Pierre Blackburn

Jean-Pierre Blackburn was elected under the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada banner as the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Jonquière from 1984 to 1993 and then for the constituency of Jonquière–Alma from 2006 to 2011.

During his career, Mr. Blackburn took on several “double ministerial duties,” which he has fond memories of, including Minister of Economic Development for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Labour, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of State (Agriculture), and Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State (Agriculture).

He was later appointed as Canada’s Ambassador to UNESCO in Paris, a post he held from 2012 to 2014.

Mr. Blackburn is married to Ginette Laforest, and they have two children: Marie-Christine and Charles Blackburn.
