The Hon. Ed Lumley, a former Member of Parliament for Stormont–Dundas, Ontario, was honoured on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his distinguishedrecord of achievement and commitment to public life. The award was presented during a gala dinner in Toronto attended by several hundred former colleagues as well as a host of local dignitaries and members of the provincial legislature. Mr. Lumley served with distinction in Parliament from 1974 to 1984, holding important Cabinet portfolios including Communications, Industry, Trade and Commerce, Regional Economic Expansion, and Science and Technology under Prime Ministers Pierre Trudeau and John Turner. After leaving government in 1984, he established a prestigious business career, including Vice-Chairman of BMO Nesbitt Burns, director of Magna International, and member of the Boards of Bell Canada, CN, and Air Canada amongst others.
