Alistair MacGregor served as the Member of Parliament for Cowichan-Malahat-Langford in three different Parliaments from 2015 to 2025. In that time, he served in a variety of critic roles for the NDP Caucus, as well as their associated House of Commons committees, including Justice and Human Rights, Agriculture and Agri-food, Public Safety and National Security, and Medical Assistance in Dying. He served as Caucus Chair from 2024 to 2025 and championed a number of initiatives in Parliament, such as a national brain injury strategy, a national soil strategy, and pension investment reform.
Mr. MacGregor also served on the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas, an official interparliamentary association for members of the House of Commons and Senate to engage in hemispheric diplomacy and political dialogue with member states in South and Central America.
Educated at the University of Victoria and Royal Roads University, Mr. MacGregor has earned his Master of Arts and, more recently, a Graduate Certificate in Leadership. Having lived in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island for the last 35 years, he has built strong relations in his home community and is currently serving as the Chief Administrative Officer for Cowichan Tribes, the largest First Nation in British Columbia.
