Chungsen Leung is a Taiwanese-born Canadian businessman and Conservative politician who served as the Member of Parliament for Willowdale. Following his election in the 2011 federal election, he was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism, a position he held until his defeat in the 2015 federal election.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, on July 14, 1950, Leung immigrated to Canada in 1968. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in economics and business from Carleton University and later obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management and Engineering from the University of Southern California. Leung has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, with involvement in disaster mitigation management, urban mass transit projects, environmentally friendly housing, air and water purification systems, sports equipment retailing, and red deer farming. He has also been active in the tourism and hospitality sectors, serving as the owner and CEO of four small and medium-sized enterprises in Richmond Hill.
In addition to his professional and community engagements, Leung has pursued diverse personal interests. He learned to play the bagpipes at Cape Breton’s Gaelic College and has performed for Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and various other dignitaries. Leung is also an avid cross-country skier, scuba instructor, Eagle Scout, and parliamentary liaison with Scouts Canada. Furthermore, he enjoys his role as a grandfather to two grandchildren.
