Yasmin Ratansi

Yasmin Ratansi is the former M.P. for Don Valley East, where she served from 2004-2011 and then 2015-2021.  She held numerous positions within the House including Deputy Whip, Chair of Environment Committee, Chair of Standing Committee on Government Operations, Chair of Standing Committee on the Status of Women and Vice Chair of Public Accounts.

She has been on the Executive of many Inter-Parliamentary Associations, including Chair of the Canadian Branch of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Vice Chair of IPU and executive on Canada-Japan and Canada Africa.

In her private life, Ms. Ratansi is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountant Association and a Certified Management Consultant, where she helps businesses meet their strategic and financial goals.  She also is a well sought after speaker on governance and accountability, having dealt with numerous governments in the developing world.

She has also been very involved in many community organizations and has helped raise funds for CAMH as its Vice Chair of the Foundation. She has received numerous awards for her professional work and for her community engagement, highlights are: John Leslie Award from the CGA, Volunteer of the Year Award from the City of Toronto and Women Who Inspire from the Canadian Council of Muslim Women.
