Dorothy Dobbie is the former M.P. for Winnipeg South, where she served from 1988 to 1993. Among several portfolios as a parliamentary secretary in the Mulroney government, she co-chaired the Joint House Senate Committee on the Renewal of Canada, which led to the Charlottetown Accord.
In private life, she is the owner of Pegasus Publications Inc., publisher of magazines and tabloids, including a multi-provincial gardening series of magazines. She also publishes Beyond the Hill, the magazine for former parliamentarians. She is a director of an Internet radio firm, Lifestyles 55 Radio, where she also broadcasts both a garden show and an issues show.
Mrs. Dobbie has had extensive involvement in community service. She served in many capacities as chair of such organizations as chair of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Council and many others. She is currently board member of Business for the Arts and is president of the International Peace Garden,
She is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, the Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, the Distinguished Service Award from the Former Members of the Manitoba Legislature, Outstanding Business Citizen of the Year from the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and the Community Service Award of Winnipeg, the Order of Canada.
